Hi Robert

A UV water sterilisers water in order to kill bacteria and viruses.

Stay hydrated,

Hi Jim

That may well be the case with the latest softener models but it is not recommended to drink soft water over a prolonged period of time irrespective of the sodium content.

Stay hydrated,

Luke,
You state," Traditional softened salt water is considered not safe to drink. This is because of the high salt sodium content."
Proper working salt based softeners do not introduce salt into the water. They use a salt rinse to remove the minerals attached to the bead. Then the salt brine is rinsed away. No salt left to go into the water.

Hi Dave

Unfortunately, there are so many possible causes for this that I wont be able to provide you with any useful help without taking a look at it myself.

However, I have worked closely with Aquasana for a while now and know they have very good customer support (hence why I typically recommend their products) so you should have no problem getting help from them.

Aquasana customer support:
866-662-6885 (Toll Free)
support@aquasana.com (Product Support)

Get back in touch with me if for some reason they don't reply and I'll chase this up for you with my contacts in the company.

Best wishes,
Luke

Hello Luke,
Good morning. Thank you for your report. I have a question that I hope you will answer, We purchased a whole house Aquasana system with a descaler. We now have a white chemical film forming on our dishwasher with a stainless steel tub. Our glassware is also affected. The system is 2 years old and we are on well water.
Before I contacted Aquasana I would like an unbiased opinion.
Thank you for your assistance.

Hi Steve,

I'm not sure I understood your question fully but yes the saltless water conditioners are capable of removing iron depending on which model you choose. For instance, the Aquasana Rhino (with UV filter upgrade) can treat iron, manganese, tannins etc as well as treating light to medium water hardness.

But if you have very hard water then consider getting a Fleck water softener that also treats iron like this one.

Hope this helps,
Luke

Do these saltless water conditioners affect iron, and keep it from staing? We have moderatly hard water, plus 2-3 ppm(?) ferrous iron. I've been told by a couple of water system installers that our salt-based softener can handle iron up to 2 ppm, so in our case, isn't taking all the iron out. What would be the effect of putting in one of these water conditioners (or one of the electromagnetic ones) ahead of the softener? Would it cause the minerals it affect to pass through the softener unaffected? Or would it be pointless because the salt softener would work exactly the same?

Thanks.

In reply to David A.

Hi David
It all depends how hard the water is. If you're unsure buy a cheap hard water test kit.
If it's not really hard (e.g. under 20-25 GPG grains per gallon) then you should look into getting a salt free water system, if not then a salt based system is the only way to deal with very hard water.

Also remember to select a model with a larger capacity since you have such a large household of 6 people e.g. if choosing Aquasana salt-free systems then choose the Rhino or <a href="https://click.linksynergy.com/deeplink?id=XGumC3sj/08&mid=36667&murl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.aquasana.com%2Fwhole-house-water-filters%2Foptimh2o-lead%2Fsalt-free-water-conditioner%2Fuv-filter-100314319.html
