Hi GK

My understanding is that the Eddy is only effective at lower levels of GPG and even then I'm still skeptical because I've seen so many mixed reviews.

Stay hydrated,

Hello.

As I am a tenant, I am rather looking for solutions which does not involve me paying a big and expensive installation that will be left behind when I will leave my flat, therefore the Eddy configuration would come handy here. However I read that it doesn't work above 20 GPG but rather shows the best results at 10 GPG and under. The water in my area is at 15 GPG, would you think it worth it or I should go for something that will shows better results even though it might be left behind? Also at 15 GPG would it prevent limescale building up in my kettle or not really?

Kind regards

Hi Tim

I doubt that very much because the Eddy temporarily changes the structure of your water so that the "hard water minerals" don't stick to your pipes - at least this is what it's supposed to do in theory.

However, if you are already getting a salt-based softener then I don't think you need the Eddy because the softener will deal with the hard water much more conclusively?

Stay hydrated,
Luke

Hi Mike

I don't think the Eddy will do anything significant to your heater except reduce the scale buildup. If this is what you want then installing it closer to the heater where it can be more effective makes the most sense.

However, this is just my guess. Shoot the company an email and see if they can clarify further info@eddy.uk.com

I would love it if you could get back to me and let me know how you got on so I can update my own knowledge in this area.

Stay hydrated,
Luke

Hi
I’ve heard these things have a limited range in piping. If I was to install this, I would imagine it would be right at the water entrance to my house. What would the effects be in my hot water heater? Would I need to install another one downstream of the water heater?

In reply to Dave.

Hi Dave

Not really because the descaler doesn't remove anything from your water it supposedly "re-conditions" the water so you stop experiencing things like limescale.

So perhaps use limescale remover before you install your new device and see if the limescale returns to know if the descaler works.

Stay hydrated,
Luke

In reply to Sher.

Hi Sher

Yes you can.

You can install the Aquasana at the mains supply and then install the Eddy at another point of the entry pipe. However, Aquasana by itself can treat hard water up to 24 GPG (Grains Per Gallons), which is very hard. It will also filter your water and make it safe to drink by itself unlike the Eddy.

Let me know if you need any further help.

Stay hydrated,
Luke

In reply to Lydia.

Hi Lydia

Descalers don't change the make up of your water, they simply move the minerals around so they act differently. They don't filter, soften, or change the pH of your water. This means that if you already have high pH water then you will still have high pH water after installing a descaler.

If you want healthier water for drinking and bathing in then you should really add on a water filter to the descaler. Aquasana is the best at allowing you to add on filters and other water treatment options to a salt free water "softener" descaler.

Best wishes,
Luke
