It means you are left with a very expensive piece of junk once an error code comes up. I’m very disappointed in the customer service.

You could be correct on this as I have no expertise in this area.

However, in both cases I spoke to BedJet and sent them a link to which transformer I planned to buy before purchasing. I only used the one they approved.

For example if you double the voltage it is 4 times the wattage / power being put through it. You can’t just up the voltage. Unless you meant a transformer rated to a higher wattage. That would be fine and wouldn’t cause damage.
