In reply to Cee.

Hi Cee,
The AquaTru reservoirs are made of food grade, BPA-free ABS plastic. This is good. Most plastic toys for kids are made with the same material because it's not toxic and safe. However, heat/sunlight exposure in general should be avoided to prevent it from breaking down in ways that primarily affect aesthetics (UV exposure can make clear ABS look cloudy). Most plastic bottles, however, are made from PET and are also safe as long as they are not exposed to heat or the sun for extended periods of time. Extended periods are greater than 4 weeks, per a 2014 study. Over time, heat can cause contaminants to leach into the water. The main contaminant that leaches out of PET are heavy metals like antimony. If heat/sun is not hitting your container, it's totally fine.

I'm not aware of them coming out with a glass option for this product and, if I put my product engineering hat on, putting a glass container of that size on a plastic machine won't be ideal because of the weights involved. They'd have to use a metal body for the housing holding the tanks which would add significant costs. So I won't expect it.

Hope that helps.

Stay hydrated,
Mr Water Geek

Hi Amanda

The minerals will be located in the filter cartridges.

However, it seems like you're doing the right thing by finding alternative ways to add extra minerals into your diet if you feel you're not getting enough.

Stay hydrated,

Hi Ramona

I went direct to AquaTru to double check and they confirmed that the basic AquaTru machine does not remineralize water.

However, a cheap and easy way to remineralize is to add trace minerals yourself like adding a tiny amount of Himalayan Sea salt to your drinking water.

Stay hydrated,

You did not address the question- does the aquatru remineralize the water?
I’m reading your previous posts. You have indicated it does remineralize the water; but then …. I think it remineralizes the water…

I know you can buy a special mineral filter, but without that special filter- does it do a basic job of replacing some minerals?….. and then the special mineral filter adds more?
Or- there are no added minerals unless you buy the mineral filter?

Could you provide clarity on the ‘mineral’ question? (Ha ha)

Thank-you very much! 😊

Hi Gary

The most effective way to treat very hard water is a
standard water softener. Another alternative is under sink reverse osmosis because reverse osmosis removes everything from water including the minerals that make it"hard".

Stay hydrated,

Hi Luke
I live in a very hard water area, and my incoming water comes in via silphos Crystals to my tapwater to soften the water before it goes into my countertop Zero reverse osmosis system.
This was the first of the countertop systems when I purchased this product.
We are now due to change our countertop device.
Do you recommend any better products on the market at this time for hard water areas ?

In reply to Bill.

Hi Bill

Arsenic is not listed in the data sheet but I know that reverse osmosis (one of AquaTru's filtration methods) is generally effective at treating arsenic by approximately 70% to 99%

You may need to consider a water ionizer machine to change the ph of your water. However, you will need a good quality machine to get the best results and they are very expensive, especially if they also include good quality filters that are capable of treating things like arsenic e.g Tyent water ionizers, which have dedicated fluoride & arsenic pre-filters.

Stay hydrated,
Luke

I had the same issue, and AquaTru send me TWO different tanks for free ( the second one leaked as well). I had sent them a video of the issue. Oddly, a while later I tried the leaking one again and it didn't leak so I ended up with two functional filters. Can't quite explain that one.

Did you ever contact customer service? I find people often post negative reviews without contacting the company to make things right.

Hi Will

Yes, it's true that RO (Reverse Osmosis) completely empties the water.
However, most modern RO systems like AquaTru also re-mineralise the water, which means it adds healthy minerals back into the water so you don't have to do anything.

Stay hydrated,
Luke
