Hi Tracy

Thank you for your message :)

I wouldn’t be too put off by plastics because any plastic used in these types of machines are likely to be premium grade high quality and very durable, and is the type of plastic that is present in almost all home appliances.

Both of my recommendations hold up very well after many years of use. I base this on receiving lots of direct feedback from my readers. Also, these devices come with warranties and money back guarantees.

They are very similar from an economical perspective because they don't require salt like traditional softeners so I would pick the one that is more suitable for your needs.

Stay hydrated,
Luke

Hi. I ended up cancelling my Rainsoft contract after reading your article. It is expensive and although it did everything I wanted the cost was prohibitive. I still want to purchase a system to help eliminate all the “ yuck” in my water and pipes. I live in Florida and our water is HORRIBLE. I have read reviews on both the systems you reviewed and recommended but the fact some of the parts are plastic seem to be a problem for some. Do you have any information on how they hold up? Do they get brittle or break easy if having to be adjusted? I am a single women, disabled Vet and first time home owner (of an older home)and am very afraid of added expense on my fixed income. I’m not sure if you mentioned it but which system is the most economical to maintain. Thank You
